As a realtor, I’ve learned people take on the adventurous task of building a home for all sorts of reasons.
Lots of times it’s as simple as they can’t find the right house in the right neighborhood. Other times, they’ve lived in several track homes and they’re ready to strike out and build the dream home they’ve been thinking about for years.
Once they’ve made the decision to build a new home, they have a hard time knowing what the next step is. So, what do they do – head for model homes, attend home and garden shows, parade of homes and other venues where they can freely look at homes and talk to builders.
If you are thinking about building a home, those are all good first steps to familiarize yourself with the trade. But, if you have never built a home before, have no plans, and aren’t sure what you want yet, consider hiring a realtor to help you through the process.
We can show you homes to help define your style, floor plan likes and dislikes and neighborhoods before you ever start the process of choosing a builder.
A successful realtor knows most of the builders and their work. They’re familiar with the quality of their work because years after they build a home, that home often gets sold. Every home being sold goes through a structural inspection. So, you could say, realtors know the builders’ work from the inside out and how they stand the test of time.
